Day 48

We flew home from Pop-Pop Dennis' house today. We had to dip way south into Texas to avoid a storm in the center of the country. Here is the storm we went around around sunset.

Pop-Pop is laughing because Maya tries to put EVERYTHING in her mouth, particularly if it's NOT a baby toy.
While we are loading up the car to go to the airport, Pop-Pop was picking onion-like weeds in his yard. Sophia wanted to bring them on the plane with us. We settled for a picture with them instead. ;)

Day 47

We went for a walk along the C&O Canal. I have many childhood memories here with my family, so it was really nice to create new memories with Alberto and our girls.
We found a lot of turtles along the way.



This bug followed us for the longest time, hopping along as we walked.

My photo group's weekly challenge this week is to show who we are. Since we are on vacation near where I grew up, I thought I'd include a few photos were I spent most of my life becoming who I am. I lived in Vienna, Virginia from 5 years old until I went away to college.
This is my childhood home in Vienna. It's amazing to see the difference a couple decades will make. The pine tree on the left had branches all the way to the ground. The tree on the right was small and somewhat easy to climb. Other trees that we regular parts of my childhood playtime adventures aren't even there anymore. :(
This is my childhood church. We have countless memories here or on trips with the youth group. We were very involved in my church growing up and I hope that Sophia and Maya are able to form the same memories in church like I did.

Day 44

We made a short trip into DC to see the dinosaur bones. We took the back roads between Annapolis and DC and found some pretty barns along the way.

Maya slept in my Ergo carrier most of the day, so we didn't have much change for a photo of her.

Day 43

Another special day for me. My Aunt Linda took us to visit my Nana's grave.

Day 42

This was such a special and exciting day for me. I got to see my family (mom's side) that I hadn't seen in nearly 20 years. It was a great visit BUT I forgot my camera!!! My cousin Kristi gave me a cd with the photos she took on it, so my blog photos for Day 43 & 44 are from my cousin. :)
